Vidi and HXS Engineering are one of the few players in Norway that can deliver a complete solution for managing industry-based electronics. Vidi has developed an independent cloud-based industry 4.0 IoT platform where it is possible to centrally control all hardware. HXS Engineering developed an expandable standard of electronics that is directly integrated with the IoT platform. Our solution brings the physical and digital world together.
What is IoT (Internet of Things)?
IoT are devices connected to the internet. The devices can be things like electronics, locks, vending machines, pumps, hydraulic pumps, etc. When the devices are connected to the internet, this allows them to talk the same through a platform in the cloud. This allows us to remotely control all the devices through an interface on the internet or in an app.
We may also collect data in a manner not previously possible. This allows for big data analysis and machine learning on collected data. With an IoT solution, work processes can be streamlined and costs reduced. New digital solutions can be created, which can increase the company’s competitiveness and profitability. This is also often referred to as Industry 4.0.
What is Industry 4.0?
Industry 4.0 is a term for the fourth industrial revolution in industry and production, where digitization and integration between hardware and software are central. IoT (Internet of Things) is the driver behind the – fourth – industrial revolution. It brings the physical and digital worlds together and has four main components: things, network connections, data and analysis.
Incentri – IoT is a new platform developed to bring the physical and digital worlds together. The platform uses the MQTT protocol for communication. The MQTT protocol was developed by IBM as a direct need to reduce data traffic between device and platform. This helps to reduce costs associated with data traffic.
The platform is built with tailoring in mind and can therefore be tailored to a specific need. It also has several built-in components such as buttons, graphs, long-term storage and input. The platform is cloud-based and can be used on most surfaces through a modern and intuitive interface available in the browser. The platform is directly integrated with HXS’s IoT controller, but can also be used against other devices that use MQTT as a protocol.
IoT controller is an expandable standard electronics developed by HXS Engineering. The MQTT protocol and the 4G network are used for communication and can be placed in places where wifi is not available. It has several uses and can in several cases replace pls systems. There are countless standard sensors that can be connected such as: temperature, pressure and weight sensors. It comes with 4 digital inputs, 2 analog inputs 4-20 mA, 3 digital outputs (relay, spdt relay, dpdt relay), and a PWM output. It can also be delivered with gps and altimeter. All remote control and information is available through the IoT platform.
Customer case- Autofeeder
An example of the use of the IoT platform and the IoT controller is an autofeeder developed and produced by HXS Engineering for the aquaculture industry. The autofeeder feeds the fishes at a given time (start and stop) during a day. The time and amount are defined by the breeder in the IoT platform so that the feeding can be adapted. The breeder can also see statistics on how much food has been fed during days and several weeks back in time. At the end of the year, a report on feeding can be generated and sent to the Ministry of Fisheries. This is extremely costly and time-saving for the breeder in addition to the breeder having full control over how much the fishes are fed.
